Authorized Kolbe dealer · Ketchum, Idaho
Aluminum on the outside for the winters, real wood on the inside for the room. Supplied and installed in the Wood River Valley by the shop that has glazed this valley for 36 years.
Most houses in this valley ask two different things of a window. The outside has to take hard sun at elevation, months of freeze and thaw, and snow sliding past it all winter. The inside is a room, and a lot of rooms here are timber, stone and wood trim that a bare metal frame would fight.
The Ultra Series splits the job. Kolbe builds the exterior in extruded aluminum and the interior in wood, so the side facing the weather never needs repainting and the side facing you is the real thing.
We are an authorized Kolbe dealer, and Ultra is the line that fits when a house wants wood inside and a finish outside that will still look right after a decade of mountain winters.
Ultra is often treated as the traditional line, and it does that well. Kolbe designs it to take on the look of a classic wood window, which suits the timber and stone houses you see all over the valley.
It is not limited to that. The same aluminum and wood build handles cleaner, more modern profiles too, so a remodel that updates the look of a house does not have to give up wood on the inside to do it.
Kolbe offers more than 50 standard exterior colors and finishes plus custom, and the interior comes in a range of wood species with more than 20 standard pre-finishes, also with custom options. That is a lot of room to match an existing house. The glass still does the thermal work, and we spec coatings by elevation the same way we do on every line: Low-E where the sun hits, and insulated units built for cold nights.
Windows. Casements in crank-out, push-out and inswing, awnings, double-hungs, sliders, and specialty units including corners, direct sets, radius and geometric shapes.
Doors. Sliding patio, multi-slide, TerraSpan lift-and-slide, folding, swinging patio and entrance doors, pivot doors, and commercial doors.
That range is the practical advantage. One line can cover the double-hungs in the bedrooms, the big slider out to the deck and the front door, so the whole house matches inside and out instead of mixing three products that almost agree.
VistaLuxe is built around very slim frames and large uninterrupted glass, which is what a contemporary house with a big view wants. Ultra carries a more substantial frame with wood on the inside. If the design is about the frame disappearing, look at VistaLuxe. If the room is about wood, Ultra.
Forgent uses Kolbe's Glastra material rather than aluminum and wood, and lands at a lower price point, which matters when a house needs a lot of windows. Ultra is the clad-wood build. When you are weighing the two across a big window count, send the plans and we will quote both so the difference is a number instead of a guess.

The takeoff comes off your drawings at our shop on Lewis Street. Every opening gets our own measurement before anything is ordered, because units are built to the opening and cannot be trimmed afterward. And the crew that sets them works out of Ketchum, so the people who measured the house are the ones standing behind the install.
